Another Hollywood couple seems to be heading towards splitsville. Yes thats right there are rumours doing the rounds that Britney and her hubby Kevin Federline are unhappy with their marriage. According to reports she recently met her family and lawyer but not hubby Kevin Federline — and the topic of divorce came up.

“Brit’s been very unhappy, and I think she needs to find some peace,” a source told Life & Style Weekly. “Once the Spears family gets its game plan together, the idea is to spring a divorce on Kev without warning.”

Britney’ representative though denies that there are problems with the marriage, but an insider told the mag that Spears was so angry with her partying hubby that she threw out all his liquor.

“She’s not going to let him make her feel like a guest in her own home anymore,” the insider said. “The new rules include no smoking or drinking, since secondhand smoke is bad for the kids.”

The two are, however, also reportedly having happier disagreements: over what to call the second baby. As Spears has confirmed, she’s pregnant with another child, rumored to be a girl.

Federline wants to name the baby Julia after his mom, according to In Touch Weekly, but Britney would rather name the baby Lillian after her own maternal grandmother. “She also likes the names Emily and Lola,” says a friend.

Now it seems that another “Hollywood Drama” is about to unfold in the coming weeks…

Shane Warne is in news again. No not for achieving another milestone but for his famous “off the field” actions. Yes thats right – Shane Warne is yet again in news for a sex scandal.

The randy Aussie cricket ace had model pals Emma Kearney and Coralie Eichholtz in a spin as he topped their wonderful figures again and again in a memorable innings at Emma’s flat last Thursday.

Shameless Shane, 36, even got his two wicked maidens to play with a giant inflatable middle stump as he showed just why his marriage to long-suffering wife Simone has been reduced to Ashes.

And despite his wild night, he still had the energy to take seven wickets for 99 runs, his best performance yet for Hampshire, in a match just hours later.

Last night MTV presenter Coralie, 25—who was spotted canoodling with Robbie Williams at a London hotel just over a week ago—told us: “Shane blew our minds. He was so fit. I’d give him top marks for more than satisfying us.

“He was talking dirty all the time. It was full on, hardcore and we had a great time. In the trouser department he was above average.”

Emma, also 25, added: “Shane’s a stallion and very willing to experiment. He loved playing around with the inflatable and was up for anything.” Sex-mad Shane—who is facing a £4 million divorce battle with Simone—set up the steamy three-in-a-bed session by bowling a series of saucy texts at Coralie. “I’ve known him for years but nothing happened before because I knew he was married,” says the New-Zealand born brunette. “But since his split he’s been texting like mad. He even sent me one during a match.”

In one text the dad-of-three told how even Simone was fed up with his sexual demands: “That’s why I got divorced. She said that I was killing her…I m********* twice a day… the last year its been out of control.I got it so bad need action baby…”

When Coralie said she wrote a sex addiction column in a lads’ mag, Shane texted: “How horny… I am like a dog on heat…”

And in another he panted: “Please please please massive wet passionate kiss to you xxxxx” before adding two minutes later: “Yummy just the way my tongue likes it… I mean Uummmm… Xxx

The threesome date was set for Thursday. Shane raced from Southampton up to Emma’s posh flat in Knightsbridge, West London, at the end of the day’s play against Middlesex, clutching two bottles of Dom Perignon and a half bottle of vodka. First he whooped and cheered as Emma—who appeared as Kylie Minogue’s double in the film Street Fighter—did a striptease. Then he watched pal Coralie get her kit off. Soon all three were kissing, fondling and playing with the giant inflatable.

Warne hit the boundary first with Emma. She says: “He made love the way I like a man to. He was a bit rough, he bit me a couple of times and was firm and manly.”

The amazing pictures show him trying a variety of positions with Emma, while Coralie watches and then joins in. Coralie says: “Shane’s highly sexed. When I told him he was a great s*** he said, ‘Seriously, I love *******. I can’t get enough.’ I think he’s even seen a therapist about it.”

Early next morning the bowler left the girls to grab some sleep before the game. But he asked them for more LB double-phew at the weekend.

After the ten-wicket win over Middlesex, Shane claimed he was suffering. He said in an interview: “If I’m honest, I’m tired out.”

Today we all know why—and it’s got nothing to do with cricket.

The speed of light, one of the most sacrosanct of the universal physical constants, may have been lower as recently as two billion years ago – and not in some far corner of the universe, but right here on Earth. The controversial finding is turning up the heat on an already simmering debate, especially since it is based on re-analysis of old data that has long been used to argue for exactly the opposite: the constancy of the speed of light and other constants.

A varying speed of light contradicts Einstein’s theory of relativity, and would undermine much of traditional physics. But some physicists believe it would elegantly explain puzzling cosmological phenomena such as the nearly uniform temperature of the universe. It might also support string theories that predict extra spatial dimensions.

The threat to the idea of an invariable speed of light comes from measurements of another parameter called the fine structure constant, or alpha, which dictates the strength of the electromagnetic force. The speed of light is inversely proportional to alpha, and though alpha also depends on two other constants (see graphic), many physicists tend to interpret a change in alpha as a change in the speed of light. It is a valid simplification, says Victor Flambaum of the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

It was Flambaum, along with John Webb and colleagues, who first seriously challenged alpha’s status as a constant in 1998. Then, after exhaustively analysing how the light from distant quasars was absorbed by intervening gas clouds, they claimed in 2001 that alpha had increased by a few parts in 105 in the past 12 billion years.

Natural nuclear reactor

But then German researchers studying photons emitted by caesium and hydrogen atoms reported earlier in June that they had seen no change in alpha to within a few parts in 1015 over the period from 1999 to 2003 (New Scientist, 26 June ) though the result does not rule out that alpha was changing billions of years ago.

Throughout the debate, physicists who argued against any change in alpha have had one set of data to fall back on. It comes from the world’s only known natural nuclear reactor, found at Oklo in Gabon, West Africa.

The Oklo reactor started up nearly two billion years ago when groundwater filtered through crevices in the rocks and mixed with uranium ore to trigger a fission reaction that was sustained for hundreds of thousands of years. Several studies that have analysed the relative concentrations of radioactive isotopes left behind at Oklo have concluded that nuclear reactions then were much the same as they are today, which implies alpha was the same too.

That is because alpha directly influences the ratio of these isotopes. In a nuclear chain reaction like the one that occurred at Oklo, the fission of each uranium-235 nucleus produces neutrons, and nearby nuclei can capture these neutrons.

For example, samarium-149 captures a neutron to become samarium-150, and since the rate of neutron capture depends on the value of alpha, the ratio of the two samarium isotopes in samples collected from Oklo can be used to calculate alpha.

A number of studies done since Oklo was discovered have found no change in alpha over time. “People started quoting the reactor [data] as firm evidence that the constants hadn’t changed,” says Steve Lamoreaux of Los Alamos National Lab (LANL) in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Energy spectrum

Now, Lamoreaux, along with LANL colleague Justin Torgerson, has re-analysed the Oklo data using what he says are more realistic figures for the energy spectrum of the neutrons present in the reactor. The results have surprised him. Alpha, it seems, has decreased by more than 4.5 parts in 108 since Oklo was live (Physical Review D, vol 69, p121701).

That translates into a very small increase in the speed of light (assuming no change in the other constants that alpha depends on), but Lamoreaux’s new analysis is so precise that he can rule out the possibility of zero change in the speed of light. “It’s pretty exciting,” he says.

So far the re-examination of the Oklo data has not drawn any fire. “The analysis is fine,” says Thibault Damour of the Institute of Advanced Scientific Studies (IHES) in Bures-sur-Yvette in France, who co-authored a 1996 Oklo study that found no change in alpha. Peter Moller of LANL, who, along with Japanese researchers, published a paper in 2000 about the Oklo reactor that also found no change in alpha, says that Lamoreaux’s assumptions are reasonable.

The analysis might be sound, and the assumptions reasonable, but some physicists are reluctant to accept the conclusions. “I can’t see a particular mistake,” says Flambaum. “However, the claim is so revolutionary there should be many independent confirmations.”

While Flambaum’s own team found that alpha was different 12 billion years ago, the new Oklo result claims that alpha was changing as late as two billion years ago. If other methods confirm the Oklo finding, it will leave physicists scrambling for new theories. “It’s like opening a gateway,” says Dmitry Budker, a colleague of Lamoreaux’s at the University of California at Berkeley.

Horizon problem

Some physicists would happily accept a variable alpha. For example, if it had been lower in the past, meaning a higher speed of light, it would solve the “horizon problem”.

Cosmologists have struggled to explain why far-flung regions of the universe are at roughly the same temperature. It implies that these regions were once close enough to exchange energy and even out the temperature, yet current models of the early universe prevent this from happening, unless they assume an ultra-fast expansion right after the big bang.

However, a higher speed of light early in the history of the universe would allow energy to pass between these areas in the form of light.

Variable “constants” would also open the door to theories that used to be off limits, such as those which break the laws of conservation of energy. And it would be a boost to versions of string theory in which extra dimensions change the constants of nature at some places in space-time.

But “there is no accepted varying-alpha theory”, warns Flambaum. Instead, there are competing theories, from those that predict a linear rate of change in alpha, to those that predict rapid oscillations. John Barrow, who has pioneered varying-alpha theories at the University of Cambridge, says that the latest Oklo result does not favour any of the current theories. “You would expect alpha to stop [changing] five to six billion years ago,” he says.

Reaction rate

Before Lamoreaux’s Oklo study can count in favour of any varying alpha theory, there are some issues to be addressed. For one, the exact conditions at Oklo are not known. Nuclear reactions run at different rates depending on the temperature of the reactor, which Lamoreaux assumed was between 227 and 527°C.

Damour says the temperature could vary far more than this. “You need to reconstruct the temperature two billion years ago deep down in the ground,” he says.

Damour also argues that the relative concentrations of samarium isotopes may not be as well determined as Lamoreaux has assumed, which would make it impossible to rule out an unchanging alpha. But Lamoreaux points out that both assumptions about the temperature of the Oklo reactor and the ratio of samarium isotopes were accepted in previous Oklo studies.

Another unknown is whether other physical constants might have varied along with, or instead of, alpha. Samarium-149’s ability to capture a neutron also depends on another constant, alpha(s), which governs the strength of the strong nuclear attraction between the nucleus and the neutron.

And in March, Flambaum claimed that the ratio of different elements left over from just after the big bang suggests that alpha(s) must have been different then compared with its value today (Physical Review D, vol 69, p 063506).

While Lamoreaux has not addressed any possible change in alpha(s) in his Oklo study, he argues that it is important to focus on possible changes in alpha because the Oklo data has become such a benchmark in the debate over whether alpha can vary. “I’ve spent my career going back and checking things that are ‘known’ and it always leads to new ideas,” he says.

For the past year or so, there’s been lots of chattering about this Web 2.0. The term came to life when Dale Dougherty of O’Reilly Media brainstormed with MediaLive’s Craig Cline.

Is it just another term that Web experts and personalities are spreading to drum up followers and business? If nothing else, many (resources at the end of the article plus we’ll skip quoting the ones that have been quoted a hundred times already) agree the Web is still maturing and it’s changing from “I go get” to “come to me,” says Thomas Vander Wal[1].

The term is hype. That is all it is. Hype. Cry and scream, if you want, but the Web can’t have a label like this. It’s not a project with a start and finish timeline. It evolves. When the first phone came to be, it didn’t get names like Phone 1.0 or Phone BC (before cell). The phone industry involved and now the lines are blurring between phones and Internet connections, even cable television.

But, the thoughts and ideas behind it are important.

Poster children for 2.0

The Web is no longer static and one-way — visitors read content and play no role. Instead, we’re seeing users who participate and connect to each other using services as opposed to Web sites. Applications are no longer limited to desktops or even the Web site itself as more Web-based applications come out.

Sites are becoming more interactive so users aren’t simply sitting and watching the Web go by. They can do something with the content they see, even if it’s not their own and it happens instantly.

Zimbra (http://www.zimbra.com/), Netvibes (http://www.netvibes.com/), Writely (http://www.writely.com/), CalendarHub (http://www.calendarhub.com/), ObjectGraph Dictionary (http://www.objectgraph.com/dictionary/), TuDu (http://app.ess.ch/tudu/welcome.action), and a Periodic Table of the Elements (http://code.jalenack.com/periodic/) are examples of two-way communication that occur in real-time. Go to these sites and play with them. It should be easy to see why these (and few other obvious that don’t need another mention) are the epitome of where the Web is going.

Repeating themes

In most Web 2.0 articles, the following are recurring themes:

*Semantic markup.

*XML.

*Portable content – content crosses paths, appears in multiple places, and connects.

*Users get real-time control.

*Adding metadata, tags, keywords to anything and everything.

Content can go anywhere thanks to RSS feeds and API (application program interface). Feeds allow people to subscribe to a Web site’s content or port them into their own Web sites or mobile devices. Google, Amazon, and eBay have APIs to let developers build applications that use these Web site’s tools. An example of API is adding a Google map to your Web site that shows how to get to your location.

All of these are indicators of the big steps forward we’re seeing on the Web. They should not be grouped and labeled.

I still don’t get it. What is 2.0?

Forget Web 2.0, but not what it represents.

It represents the change in how people and information interact on the Web. It represents designers and developers are thinking about how people use information and that users add value. It represents different approaches for making this happen.

To be honest, writing this article has been difficult. Read the many definitions of Web 2.0 on the Web and no two say the same thing. It’s yet another buzzword. As Rick Segal writes in his post on the topic, “Don’t look for the buzz words to get you into the game or get you a check.”

The term isn’t important. It’s about seeing a change in the Web as users enjoy more real-time control and participation while connecting to each other through many means. So to heck with the “label” and just know the Web is growing up and a lot of things are happening in terms of the advances made to make it a more interactive experience that puts the user in the driver’s seat.

“The term Web 2.0 particularly bugs me. It’s not a real concept. It has no meaning. It’s a big, vague, nebulous cloud of pure architectural nothingness,” writes Joel Spolsky of Joel on Software .

Vander Wal says, “There is more hype in Web 2.0 than great steps forward.”

Amen.

The Delprof.exe tool included with the Windows 2000 Resource Kit makes it easy to remove user profiles locally or on a remote computer. Find out how this tool can save you time and help you free up space on the drive.

User profiles store documents, application settings, certain temporary files, custom colors, and more. A single user’s profile can be quite large; when multiple users share a computer, the profiles can take up a considerable amount of space.

When a user stops using a particular shared computer, you can typically delete the profile to free up space on the drive for other users, applications, temporary files, and so on. While you could delete the folder structure manually, doing so can be very time consuming. What’s more, you might need to remove a profile on a remote computer.

The Delprof.exe tool included with the Windows 2000 Resource Kit makes it easy to remove user profiles locally or on a remote computer. Delprof.exe can delete profiles on computers running Windows NT or later (except for Windows 9x or ME machines).

Delprof.exe supports several command-line arguments that let you specify the target computer, run the tool in quiet mode, force continuation when an error occurs, and cause the tool to prompt for verification before deleting the profile. You can also specify a number of days of inactivity, and Delprof.exe will delete any profiles that have seen no activity for that period or longer.

To view the syntax for Delprof.exe, execute the following command:

delprof /?

Onher 32nd birthday onNovember 1, Aishwarya Rai is feeling on top of the world and looking like a million bucks. Is that what she got paid for her performance in Doug Lefler’s Last Legion?

“Ha! I’m not telling. What I’ll tell you is, I’ve never had so much fun acting. So far I was doing lots of roles that required me to play women with a heavy soul — not that I didn’t enjoy that phase of my career — but now I’m finally playing girls who wanna have fun.”

In Last Legion, which she has just shot in Tunisia and Slovakia, she plays a horse-riding, sword-swishing warrior.

“I’ve never done this before. It was really something! There’s a lot of sword fighting. There was hardly any time to prepare, to learn these things. I reached on-location and almost immediately got into it. The whole ambience was so professional and yet so relaxed. All of us were work-oriented, but it wasn’t all work and no play. Everyone was so much into work, and yet having a good time.”

Ash is the main and only female lead in the film. So, is this her true launch into international cine-stardom?

“I don’t see Last Legion that way,” Ash says. “Why do you see it as my international launch? Why are Provoked or Mistress Of Spices not international projects? Because I play Indian characters in them? It doesn’t work that way for me.”

After this film, Ash goes into Umrao Jaan and Dhoom 2. “Both are very different from one another. I’ve never played these kinds of roles before.”

How true are rumours that she is losing weight to fit into a bikini for Dhoom 2?

“There’s no bikini, please! But yes, I’ve definitely lost weight. It’s a process that started earlier for Last Legion. If I had to get on a horse I had to look worthy of it, no? And since in Dhoom 2 I’m playing an utter hip-and-now character, I naturally needed to get more into shape. It was natural process, not one of those dietary missions.

“I had never worked out, never made any effort to lose weight. I’m a total foodie with a sweet tooth. I’ve never tried to control my diet. During Bride & Prejudice and Raincoat the directors did want me to look a little heavy for my characters. But for Last Legion and Dhoom 2 I had to close it. Nothing stipulated in the contract or anything, please! But just something I thought I needed to do.”

Is she in a transitional phase in her career? “I’ve never looked at my career in phases. There’s never the urge to look at one particular part of my career as all consuming. People from the outside can perhaps categorise different phases in my career. For me everything I do is equally important. You may think some of my earlier films were candyfloss. But believe you me, they were as hard to do as the battered wife in Provoked or the warrior in Last Legion.”

Talk veers to Amitabh Bachchan and his ‘Madam, I’m your only Adam’ declaration in Bunty Aur Babli.

“I didn’t know Mr Bachchan had quietly incorporated that line for me at the end of our number in Bunty Aur Babli,” says Ash.

And she is genuinely surprised when I inform her Madam I’m your Adam has becomea song in David Dhawan’s new comedy Shaadi No 1.

“You can’t be serious! Really? But that was a special line, only for me. They can’t do that,” she grumbles jokingly.

If you are a person who likes to keep up with current trends you will know that it is important to have your own website. After all anybody who is Anybody Important has a website of their very own. However one of the dangers of having a website is that someone browsing on the internet might discover it one day and what is worse, actually pause to visit your site and read its contents! They might even be interested stopping for a while to read what you wrote in it, or want to buy the widget you thought might be good to sell as you have more than one of them.

If you would like to reduce the possibilities of that happening be sure to follow these ten tips, and you can be sure that very few people will even know your website exists.

1. Choose an obscure domain name. Make sure the name you select has no relevance to the content of your site, to you or your business. Whatever you do make sure the domain name contains NO keywords that would indicate what your site is about and attract attention when someone searches for a site with your content or product.

2. Do not submit your website URL to any search engines, especially the big ones like Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Do not participate in any offers for your website to be submitted to search engines for free.

3. Never add fresh content or pages to your website. In fact it is a better idea to identically duplicate your content on every page.

4. Avoid reading anything about how to promote traffic to your website. One of the strategies might sink into your sub conscious, and you might find yourself promoting your site by accident.

5. Set up your website and then just leave it. Try not even to visit it yourself if possible in case your computer has tracking cookies. Any visits to your site could attract attention.

6. Make sure that you have a generic e mail address that you use all the time. An example of this might be a hotmail or yahoo address. Then when you write emails no one can track down your website through your email address. An address like me @mywebsite.com would just give the game away.

7. Even if you are passionate about writing, do not even consider writing an article and submitting it to a free article submission site such as Articles Beyond Better.Com. The problem with submitting an article is that you have to put something in the resource box which tells other people who you are and how to visit your website and buy your widget. It’s amazing how just one article can be reprinted all over the internet, and read by people all over the world. That kind of exposure is very harmful to secret websites which do not want to receive any visits.

8. Do not put a blog or bulletin board on your website. This just encourages all sorts of visitors who want to read what you write and ask you questions. Some people often make return visits, or even become regular visitors to blogs, forums and bulletin boards. After all it would be terrible if someone actually ‘bookmarked’ your site and came back because they liked it!

9. Do not ever mention or put your website address on your business card, any promotional business material, or as a signature file on every e mail you send.

10. Choose an unreliable hosting service that has a bad reputation. In this way the server will not be up all the time, and people will not be able to access your site even if they wanted to.

By following these guidelines you can be pretty sure that no one will notice that your website exists. I hope you have plenty of money though, and are not wanting to make any income from your website. The problem with a website that is un noticed is that you still have to pay your hosting server every month for the privilege of your website taking up space on their server even if no one comes to visit it.

Yahoo announced a new feature for its My Web 2.0 “social search engine” on Friday that’s meant to appeal to bloggers and Web site publishers.

The new trait is further evidence that Internet search engines are embracing blogs, which are online diaries on any number of topics with links directing visitors to the operators favorite Internet locales. There are an estimated 20 million blogs.

With its new feature, Yahoo is exposing blogs to its My Web 2.0 community of users, the size of which a Yahoo does not divulge.

My Web 2.0 sets-up people with their own Web sites to store and organize favorite Internet findings. Yahoo calls My Web 2.0 a social search engine because users get to contribute their listings to a communal database that’s searchable by others in the My Web universe. The benefit is “access to Web content that’s ranked by search technology,” Yahoo says.

The new attribute announced Friday is a “Save to My Web” button that’s displayed on Web sites or blogs. The feature lets My Web 2.0 users instantly add the site to their collection during their Web wanderings, rather than a more cumbersome alternative involving a visit to their My Web 2.0 Web page. Bloggers and Web site operators must first add the element onto their sites.
